Léon Blum

Przedstawiam Pantswu Pana Léon'a Blum'a. Bylem Premierem Francji podczas Frontu Ludowego od 1936r. Front Ludowy przedstawia nadzieje lepszego zycia. Podczas jego krotkiego panowania francuscy Robotnici dostali 2 tygodnie placonych wakacji przez rok. To bylo rewolucyjne! Mimo, ze mowiono, ze te wakacje nie byly centralnym punktem socjalnej polityki w tej porze, dzisiaj pamietamy Front Ludowy jako tworzyciel placonych wakacji i ulepszenia kondycji pracy w ogole dla kazdego.

I introduce you to Léon Blum. He was Prime Minister during Popular Front from 1936. Popular Front represents hope in a better life. During his short "reign", French workers received the right to have 2 weeks of paid vacations a year. It was a revolution! Even though we are told that at the time paid vacations was not the priority of the Gouvernement and its social policy, today we remember the Popular Front with them and a general improvment of working conditions for all.

Przedstawiam Wam pomnik La Dégense (Obron). Kiedys stal na rondzie. Jest utworem Barrias'a a obchodzi opornosc Paryzaninow przeciwko Niemcom we wojnie 1870-71. W tym sposob dal dzielnicy swoja nazwe "La Défense".

Je vous présente le monument de la Défense. Autrefois il tronait sur un rond-point. Il est l'oeuvre de Barrias et célébrait la résistance des Parisiens face au siège allemand (et non prussien) de 1870-71. Ainsi il donna son nom au quartier pourtant situé à l'Ouest de Paris.

I introduce you to the Monument of La Défense. Some time ago, it was situated in the middle of a roundabout. It's an artwork by Barrias to commemorate the resistance of Parisians against German siege (1870-71). Therefore the neighbourhood where it is situated is called La Défense.

Ceci est un four électrique (les électrodes, à gauche, chauffent jusqu'à le fondre l'acier versé dans une cocotte (pas le nom officiel). Là une benne déverse dans cette cocotte une cargaison de métal à fondre.

Journée de mobilisation mondiale pour un travail décent 07 octobre 2008

Yesterday was a mobilisation day for decent work. A demonstration took place in Paris and workers from all over Europe joined, like those Polish Worker from Solidarity. (But there were Dutch, Latvians, Slovenians and more too). I don't know if taking part in such meetings can change anything but doing nothing is worse. So.

Hier était le jour de mobilisation mondiale pour des conditions décentes de travail. Une manifestation suivie d'un rassemblement eut lieu à Paris et des travailleurs de toute l'Europe comme ces syndicalistes polonais de Solidarité se sont aussi joints. (Mais il y avait aussi des Hollandais, Lettons, Slovènes entre autres). J'ignore si participer à ce genre d'action peut servir à quelque chose mais ne rien faire est encore pire, donc.

Wczoraj miala miejsce w Paryzu demonstracja za dobre i godne kondycje pracy. Pracownicy z calej Europy (jak ci z Polski) wzieli w niej udzial. Bylo tez duzo Holanderow, Lotwinianow oraz mieszkancow z Slowenii. Nie wiem, czy brac udzial w tego typu manifestatcji pomoze czy nie, ale nic nie zrobic jest gorsze, nie?!
