Entrée d'un immeuble

I was happy today to be able to enter this building again. Some weeks ago, its main gate was open and allowed me to see this entrance so oldfashioned that I like but I didn't have my camera with me that day.
Cieszyłam się dzisiaj z tego, że mogłam wejść w tym budynku znowu. Kilka tygodnie temu, jego główne drzwi były otwarte a to pozwalało mi odkryć te moim zdaniem piękne wejście ale niestety brakawało mi wtedy aparatu.
Je fus contente cette après midi d'avoir de nouveau l'occasion d'entrer dans ce hall si vieillot, mais qui me plaît,découvert il y a quelques semaines. Surtout qu'à ce moment-là je n'avais pas mon appareil photo avec moi.

Rotonde de la Villette

Construite par l'architecte Ledoux. Elle appartenait au mur des fermiers généraux. Elle servait au paiement de l'octroi, une contribution supprimée en 1791. Toute personne entrant dans Paris (ou tout autre lieu soumis à cet impôt) avec des marchandises devait s'en acquitter afin de pour importer ses marchandise dans cette ville. Le mur des fermiers généraux (limite de l'octroi à Paris) fut démoli à partir de 1791 mais la Rotonde fut épargnée. Pour connaître mieux son histoire vous pouvez cliquer ici!

Built by an architect called Ledoux, this rotunda belonged to the Wall of the Farmers General. This wall was a kind of 'tax border' around Paris. People willing to enter Paris with goods, had to pass this wall paying a toll called 'octroi' to be allowed to import to Paris these goods. This wall had been destroyed since 1791 when octroi was abolished but this rotunda remained from destruction and has been since 1907 protected being a "National Monument".

J'ai trouvé que ce papier rose était rendu illisible à cause du soleil mais cela faisait assez joli.

On Saturday I was invited for lunch at a friend's place in the 16th district. She lived in a little appartement (Maid'room as we say as some decades ago such tiny appartement were used to house the Maids of rich families living downstairs in the building). Here is the view from her window!

Journées thématiques de mai: la boîte aux lettres

Nous devons honorer les boîtes aux lettres aujourd'hui. Je suis sûre que vous savez que les boîtes aux lettres françaises sont jaunes et décorées d'une hirondelle. Alors j'ai pensé à photographier ce qui me sert de boîte au lettre: mon entrée (palier)!
Mon immeuble n'en a aucune alors le facteur donne le courrier à la gardienne qui se charge de le distribuer aux habitants de l'immeuble en le glissant sous la porte...

Today is theme day! I am sure you already had the opportunity to see the French yellow mailboxes decorated with a swallow. So I decided to take a picture what play the rule of mailbox at my place: my entrance door. Indeed, the building I live in, doesn't have any mailboxes for its inhabitants. From Monday to Saturday, the postman gives the mail to the "concierge" who then delivers the mail by slipping it under our doors...
