I discovered but not did not tried yet a new public transportation in Paris: Voguéo. It's a boat who goes from place to place and stops at boatstops.

J'ai découvert mais pas testé un nouveau moyen de transport à Paris: Voguéo. C'est un bâteau qui relie des points donnés dans la ville.

Reflet et faute d'orthographe!

I took this picture near the Place des Vosges and afterwards noticed the orthographical mistakes on the onions thing. But I liked the reflexion.

J'ai pris cette photo près de la Place des Vosges avant de découvrir la faute d'orthographe. Mais la réflexion m'a plu.

Anciens Combattants d'Indochine

Here is fountain part of the Monument to the Veteran of Vietnam Independence War. I'm not nostalgic of having colonies, but I found the moument interesting.

Voilà la fontaine du Monument dédié aux Anciens Combattants d'Indochine. Je ne suis pas nostalgique des colonies, vraiment mais j'ai aimé la forme du monument.

To fontanna pomnika francuskim zolnierzom ktorzy walczyli podczas wietnamskiej wojny niepodleglosci. Nie tesknie za koloniami ale podobal mi sie ten pomnik.

Buttes Chaumont

I swear, I won't post each day romantic spots of Paris telling you that I dislike this stereotype of Romantic Paris. hahaha. But that's the place I took yesterday's picture from, a little fakely amenaged hill in the Buttes Chaumont park where you can have a view on Montmartre. It's quite popular and a typical 19th century park with fake temples, fakes caves and fake waterfalls. I like this park though.
Je le jure, je ne vai schaque jour poster des photo romantiques de Paris tout en vous disant que je déteste le cliché de Paris romantique. hahaha. Mais c'est de cet endroit que j'ai pris la photo d'hier. C'est une petite colline amménagée de fausses grottes, de fausses chutes d'eau et de temples, dans un parc très 19è. Parc que j'aime bien d'ailleurs.

Des plots

During a walk in a new built area I found these little things near a special building I will tell you later about. I don't really like brand new and glowing areas, I prefer a bit imperfection.

Durant une promenade dans un nouveau quartier, j'ai trouvé ces petites choses. Ils sont à proximité d'un bâtiment dont j'avais entendu parler. Je préfère les choses qui dépassent au tout rutilant.

BNF

I'd like to show as more modern buildings as possible, not to give a too historic vision of Paris.

These are two towers of the BNF (National Library) taken on Sunday late afternoon.

The BNF is an architectural piece of art but is criticised for not being practical and for using yearly almost as many energy as Montpellier with its 250.000 inhabitants!

J'aimerais montrer le plus de bâtiments modernes possible, pour ne pas donner de Paris une image trop historique. Cette photo représente deux tours de la BNF, chef d'oeuvre architectural mais critiquée pour être bien peu pratique et gourmande en énergie, presqu'autant que la ville de Montpellier et ses 250.000 habitants. Chcialabym tez pokozac ludziom jak najwiecej zdjac nowoczesnych budynkow. Nie chce przedstawiac historycznego i stereotypowego Paryza. To dwie wiezy BNF (Narodowa Biblioteka Francji). To sztuka architekturalna ale nie za praktyczna. A uzywa rocznie duzo energii (?) prawie tak jak miasto Montpellier i jego 250.000 mieszkancow. (Le Monde Diplomatique, sierpien 2008)

This tallship is called "La Boudeuse" and spends some time in Paris before going exploring the world for scientific duty.

On wednesdays, saturdays and sundays you can even visit it for free from 10am to 6pm! Of course a donation is welcome!

POPB et Art moderne

Today I chose a picture from behind. I took it on Sunday in the Gardens Yitzhak Rabin in front of the Palais Omnisports Paris-Bercy. Each statue represents a Nation. You can see Canada, Spain, Mexico or Japan. I was surprised to see the statues from behind. The other thing which surprised me is that if there where some Nations represented, a statue represented whole Africa. As if Africa was one monolithous block and really homogenous. Strange.

Aujourd'hui, j'ai choisi une image de derrière prise dimanche dans les Jardins Yithzak Rabin derrière le POPB. Chaque statue présente sur l'allée représente un pays. Vous pouvez voir la statue Canada, Espagne, Mexique ou Japon (portant des noms et représentant des enfants en fait). Ce qui m'a aussi frappée est le fait qu'une statue représentait l'Afrique dans son ensemble . Comme si l'Afrique était un un bloc monolithe et homogène. Intéressant.

Place des Vosges

For today I chose a picture taken Saturday of one of the most beautiful square in Paris: The Vosges Square. The Vosges is a region in Eastern France next to Alsace. The name of this departement was given to this square during the Revolution (of 1789) to honnour the fact the Vosges was the first departement to pay the War taxes to defend the Nation and to send troups during the Revolutionnary wars against all Europe (but Poland ;-) ) . But Of course they were very concerned seeing their location!

I also liked the street sign, a little old fashionable!
Actually this square was built during the 17th Century and was a Royal Square (perfect square with 4 identical series of buildings).

Pour aujourd'hui j'ai choisi une photo prise samedi de la place des Vosges, l'une des plus belles places de Paris. Cette place fut nommée place des Vosges en l'honneur de ce département qui fut le premier à payer la contribution de guerre et à envoyer des troupes pour défendre la Nation en 1792 contre les ligues antirévolutionnaires. Il est évident que leur situation géographique leur a fait se sentir rapidement concernés!

J'ai aussi aimé le panneau de signalisation, un peu démodé.

Ancien versus Moderne

Sometimes Paris can be the meeting of the old and new technologies.

Quelques fois Paris est le lieu de rencontre entre le moderne et l'ancien.

Notice d'utilisation du métro

On my line (M13) you can see such arrows on the floor at the stations. It's to teach users how to use the metro. People have to wait on the side for the other to come off the train. As if we were little children.

Sur ma ligne de métro (M13) on peut voir des flèches enseignants aux gens comment utiliser le métro en laissant descendre les gens en attendant sur le côté. Comme si nous étions des petits enfants.

Echecs Square Carpeaux

I went for a walk during a free day some weeks ago and I found the 'Square Carpeaux' in the 18th district. I enjoyed this place very much with its place to do some rollerblade, big trees, numerous benches and chess tables. You can also see in the background some playground for children. Very nice place!

Spacerowalam sobie po miescie pare tygodni temu a znalazlam ten skwer w 18tej dzielnicy. Bardzo mi sie podobal z miejscem zeby jezdzic na rollery, wielkimi drzewami, wielu lawek oraz stolami na szary. Widzono tez gry dla dzieci. Fajne miejsce.

Le petit bonhomme vert

It's rare to be interested in those little green men even though I know that the former East German little green Man has become a real star in Germany but I thought this was quite funny.

It looks like he's running which is ironic as the green light is quite short at this crossroads.

I love the details on the drawing: lines of the roads, little shoes (even the heels ;-) ) coat and hat! This little Green Man is definitely elegant.

And you, have you found any elegant street signs in your city?

Bardzo rzadko interesuje sie malym zielonym czlowiekiem ale ten bardzo podoba mi sie! Wiem ze w Niemczech byly zielony meczyzna stal sie znany teraz.

Ten biega a zielony czas na tej ulicy jest bardzo krotki a podobaja mi sie szczegoly taki jaki linii na ulicy, plaszcz oraz kapelusz!

A wy, macie jakich fajnych zielonych ludzi w swoim miescie?

C'est rare que je m'intéresse aux petits bonhommes verts même si je sais que ceux de la RDA sont devenus de vraies stars mais celui-ci m'a particulièrement plu. J'aime le mouvement qu'il dégage (surtout qu'à cette intersection le temps "vert" est très court) ainsi que les détails comme le spetits talons de ses chaussures, son manteau et son chapeau.

Et vous, vous avez de chouettes petits bonhomme verts dans votre ville?

In some places in the city you can find such things. It helps getting clean and unused syringes. That's to help junkie not to stick on their used and shared syringes. I think it's quite anonymous to use this.

I found that monument last wednesday going from the business Center La Défense to a friend Bday party. I think that this monument made with present businessmen is quite interesting and funny in a way
