Georges Clemenceau
Here is Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929) . He was a political man and Statesman. He was Prime Minister (Président du Conseil) twice, 1906-1909 and 1917-1920 when this duty was more important than being the President. He's overall known for being the Prime Minister at the end of WWI, for his determination during that time. His two nicknames "Le Tigre" (Tiger) and "Père la Victoire" (Father Victory) gives an idea of his image in the National Memory. During the Dreyfus case, he was a supporter of Alfred Dreyfus and Emile Zola against anti-semitic and ultra-nationalist ligas at the end of nineteenth century. I do not know much about French history, but he sounds like a great man. I especially like that last fact — we need more tolerant leaders like him now.
I like the statue on the rock, and your photo of it with all the beautiful bare trees.
Very nice history lesson Elsa! I like his nicknames!
